Pivot Psychotherapy

It's about you.

Meet Lindsay Mason, RP, MEd (Psych)

With over 13 years of working in mental health and counselling, coupled with a graduate degree from the University of Toronto in counselling psychology and a doctorate in counselling and psychotherapy underway, I've developed a therapist's toolkit of psychological assessments, extensive knowledge of mental health issues, and a holistic mix of therapeutic modalities. I support my clients’ mental health and wellbeing by embracing a culturally responsive and socially just wellness model that promotes development, prevention, growth, and empowerment. My practice flows from a trauma-informed integrative framework, drawing predominately from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, and multicultural counselling perspectives. Providing a breadth of options for you to draw from creates a more tailored approach to meet your individualized counselling goals and needs quickly.

I specialize in working with adolescents and adults, collaboratively working through issues that may impede personal, interpersonal, academic, and career growth. I currently work in a university setting and private practice. My specialization areas include:

  • Anxiety disorders (including generalized anxiety, social phobia, and panic disorder)

  • Depression (including low moods and seasonal affective disorder)

  • Life transitions (including academic, career, relationships, pregnancy & postpartum, and feeling "stuck")

  • Self-esteem, self-worth, imposter syndrome

  • Perfectionism

  • People-pleasing, boundary-setting, codependency issues

  • Family conflict and relationship issues

  • Coping strategies and resiliency training

  • Stress management

I have training and certification in the following areas:

  • Advanced training in trauma treatment from Bessel van der Kolk, MD, Pat Ogden, PhD, and Stephen Porges, PhD

  • TEAM cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)  for anxiety training from David Burns, MD (author of Feeling Good)

  • CBT training from Christine A. Padesky, PhD (author of Mind Over Mood)

  • Solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) certificate from the University of Toronto

  • Positive psychology training from Martin E. P. Seligman, PhD (founder of Positive Psychology)

  • Acceptance & commitment therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) training from Western Hospital

  • ASIST suicide intervention training from LivingWorks

  • Fully trained doula through Toronto Yoga Mamas/Doula School

I received my Registered Psychotherapist designation with the College of Registered Psychotherapists when the College was established in 2015, am a member of the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association, and engage in professional development to offer the best to my clients.
